(Bloomberg) UniCredit SpA is halting the planned sale of some works of art from a collection dating as far back as the Renaissance, marking the reversal by new Chief Executive Officer Andrea Orcel of a signature policy from his predecessor.
(Bloomberg) UniCredit SpA is halting the planned sale of some works of art from a collection dating as far back as the Renaissance, marking the reversal by new Chief Executive Officer Andrea Orcel of a signature policy from his predecessor.
âUniCredit is halting any further sales and launching new and innovative initiatives to support art and culture,â Orcel said in a statement on Wednesday. Art and culture âhave a deep social value and are closely intertwined with the social function that I believe a bank needs to have in all its communities.â

Nakai, whose work has recently garnered greater critical attention, acts as a bridge between European and Japanese postwar art. The acquisition was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Japanese Friends of the Centre Pompidou. Since 2018, Ronchini represents the Estate of Katsumi Nakai. The Gallery has worked closely with the artists daughter to re-introduce Nakais oeuvre to a new generation of artists and collectors.
