In Sindh, the 330-megawatt Thar Energy Limited Power Project Block-II is being completed under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC. According to an official, the power plant would supply electricity to the national grid under a 30-year power purchase agreement. According to APP news agency, the power plant is a 330MW mine-mouth lignite-fired power project being built by Thar Energy, which is owned by the Hub Power Company or Hubco, China Machinery Engineering Corporation or CMEC and Fauji Fertilizer Company or FFC. ISLAMABAD: Lt-Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has tendered his resignation as the Chairman CPEC Authority. Meanwhile, the prime minister has appointed Khalid Mansoor as his Special Assistant on CPEC Affairs.
Asim Bajwa took to twitter and wrote, âI bow my head before Allah Almighty for giving me an opportunity to raise & steer the important institution of CPEC Authority as one window for all CPEC projects, charting the future direction. Wouldnât have been possible without full confidence & support of the PM and his government.
âThe course is set for future progression of CPEC, this journey will go on. My best wishes to Khalid Mansoor sb, who is fully equipped to take it forward. CPEC is the life line for Pakistan, it will transform us into a progressive and fully developed country, InshaAllah.â
ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday appointed Khalid Mansoor as his special assistant on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) affairs after which CPEC Authority Chairman retired Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa quit his position.
The government believes that Mr Mansoor, having a vast experience of working as head of several organisations, would lead the second phase of the CPEC to be focused on industrial cooperation in a better way.
After departure of Mr Bajwa, the post of CPEC Authority chairman has fallen vacant and it is expected that Mr Mansoor will be given an additional charge of this office in the days to come.

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), during the first three quarters of the current fiscal year, has injected as many as 12 more operated wells in the production gathering system aimed at tackling the natural depletion in existing reserves and meeting the country’s ever-increasing energy needs.
“Decline in the production was partially mitigated by injection of 12 operated wells in the system including Mela-7, Pasakhi-11, TAY South West-1, Saand-1 & 2, Umair-1, Mangrio-1, Togh Bala-1, Nashpa-10, Pasakhi Deep-6, Pasakhi West Deep-2 and Qadirpur-62 which cumulatively yielded gross crude oil and gas production of 371,918 barrels (BBL) and 6,769 Million Cubic Feet (MMCF) respectively,” according to an official report available with APP. During the period under review, the oil and gas production was impacted primarily by a natural decline at Kunnar, KPD-TAY, Dakhni, Sinjhoro and Nashpa fields. Moreover, lower production was recorded on account
