During a recent meeting, council members awarded a $435,413 contract to Earle Asphalt, Wall Township, for the reconstruction of Hamilton Street, Heritage Drive and Raymond Court. Earle Asphalt was awarded the contract as the lowest responsible bidder, according to a resolution. According to Borough Engineer Thomas Herits, other bids were submitted by S. Brothers ($446,229) and Esposito Construction ($458,448). Herits recommended that the council award the contract to Earle Asphalt. To help pay for the work, Englishtown has received grants totaling $304,0000 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, according to the resolution.

Englishtown council inks shared services agreements with Manalapan Englishtown council inks shared services agreements with Manalapan ENGLISHTOWN – The Englishtown Borough Council has entered into shared services agreements with Manalapan through which employees of that neighboring municipality will also work for Englishtown. During a recent meeting, council members authorized agreements with Manalapan for a deputy municipal court administrator and a certified public works manager. The deputy municipal court administrator will be paid an hourly rate of $42, not to exceed $10,000 per year. The certified public works manager will be paid an hourly rate of $72, not to exceed $9,000 per year. Resolutions passed by the council members state that working together through shared services will result in positive outcomes for both municipalities and that Manalapan has agreed to provide Englishtown with those municipal employees.

News Transcript News Briefs, Feb. 10 The Township Committee in Freehold Township has authorized a shared services agreement with Spring Lake through which Freehold Township will provide information technology services to the eastern Monmouth County municipality. In other business during a recent meeting, committee members rejected bids for a Gravel Hill Road water storage tank project. The rejected bids were in the amount of $4.39 million and $4.13 million. According to a resolution, the bids were rejected on the advice of Superintendent of Utilities Robert Koches and Mott MacDonald, the township’s professional engineer, because they exceeded budget estimates. Finally, committee members authorized a $10,149 increase in a $153,854 contract that was awarded to Sodon’s Electric Inc. for the replacement of the generator at the Freehold Township police station. The increase brings the total contract to $164,003.
