A Tecumseh resident and associate professor of English at Siena Heights University is now a one-day “Jeopardy!” champion and $20,600 richer.
Dana Schumacher-Schmidt bested her two competitors in Tuesday’s episode of “Jeopardy!,” dethroning the game show’s three-day winner in bank examiner Kelly Donohue of Winthrop, Massachusetts, and getting past legal assistant John Prokop of Uncasville, Connecticut, to become the new “Jeopardy!” champion.
Schumacher-Schmidt won Tuesday’s episode with a total of $20,600, only betting a $500 wager in Final Jeopardy, after having a large enough lead in hand following the first two rounds of the quiz show.
She will appear again on the show as a returning champion at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
