Infrastructure group Balfour Beatty said it ended 2020 with a record order book worth around two years of revenues thanks to major new contracts in the UK and Hong Kong.
A massive contract from the Hong Kong Airport Authority and deals totalling over £3billion related to the High Speed 2 rail project helped drive its order book 15 per cent higher to £16.4billion.
This helped the group s share of revenues at its Hong Kong joint venture Gammon to rise 10 per cent to £985million, while its profit from operations grew by £3million to £29million despite the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
