read, what are your initial thoughts on what could have happened here? what could have caused this building to collapse seemingly out of the blue? certainly\. thank you for having me on. i want to start by saying that as we ve heard, this is really a human story right now. and that comes first. but it quickly does become an engineering story. happy to share some of my thoughts. you know, as we ve been talking about a little bit, the engineering report called out some issues with the pool deck. concrete does crack over time. that s not unexpected, but whenever it does crack, it allows moisture to get into the concrete, and that gets to the steel and starts to corrode it. that s what the engineer indicated was happening and certainly i believe if it was initiated by the pool deck failure, that goes down to the parking garage which contains columns that supports the entire structure.
