Komi became the most important coal supplier. In the complicated conditions of permafrost people in Vorkuta hurried to dig mines and make a rail line to supply coal to Moscow, blockaded Leningrad, Cherepovets, Murmansk, Vologda, Kirov and many other cities. Together with historian Fyodor Kolpakov we pay tribute to heroes of those years.
