During Thursday s meeting, the Canton City Council approved a pair of contracts that will help to expand and construct the wastewater treatment plant.
The first contract was approved and awarded to Atkins for water pollution control plant construction management services. Utility Engineer Dave Hatabian said at the Dec. 3 meeting that the purpose of the project is to increase the plantâs treatment capacity from 4 million gallons per day to 6 million gallons per day, which would further help to provide sewerage to future residential, commercial and industrial customers. The project involves upgrades and/or expansion of most of the major unit processes. Cost of the project is $3.4 million.
