A High Court of Justice in Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode Division has awarded N2m damages against the Nigeria Police for the unlawful arrest and detention of one Abolaji Alaba.
Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria briefly regained his freedom on Thursday night after he was released by the Department of State Services (DSS). SaharaReporters learnt that Emefiele who had been in DSS custody since June 9, was however picked up immediately by the anti-corruption agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). “Emefiele regained his freedom last night but he was immediately picked up by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,” a top security source told SaharaReporters on Thursday.
The detained former Chairman of Nigeria's anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been released by the Department of State Services. Bawa was released on Wednesday, 134 days after he was detained at the facility of Nigeria's secret police, DSS, without trial. Bawa was arrested and detained by the DSS on June 14, 2023, following an invite following allegations of abuse of office shortly after he was suspended by President Bola Tinubu.
