Government outlines shift to clean energy in long-awaited Energy White Paper The government has set out plans to clean up the energy system and drive the transition to net zero in its Energy White Paper, released today. The white paper builds on prime minister Boris Johnson s 10 Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, identifying specific steps the government will take over the next decade to cut emissions from industry, transport, and buildings. It will also support hundreds of thousands of new green jobs. Key elements include a £1bn investment in carbon capture storage and a £1.3bn investment in the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. In addition to this, the white paper considers how to achieve the government s commitment to 40GW of offshore wind by 2030, including 1GW of floating wind, while attracting new offshore wind manufacturers to the UK.
