Shell Makes Significant Deepwater Gulf of Mexico Find
Shell Offshore Inc, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, announced a “significant” discovery at the Leopard prospect in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Leopard well encountered more than 600 feet of net oil pay at multiple levels, according to Shell, which said evaluation was ongoing to further define development options.

Rig Sinks After Incident Offshore Sarawak
Velesto Energy Berhad revealed this week that an incident involving its Naga 7 rig occurred offshore Sarawak. The Naga 7 was said to have tilted and subsequently submerged on May 4.

Germany s WPD to sell part of interest in 640MW project off the coast of Yunlin County

French energy major Total has signed an agreement with German renewable energy developer WPD to acquire a 23% interest in Yunlin Holding, the owner of the Yunlin offshore wind farm under construction off the coast of Taiwan. The 640MW project has a 20-year guaranteed-price power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned Taiwan Power Company.
Yunlin is at present 48% owned by WPD, 25% by EGCO (Electricity Generating Public Company Limited), and 27% by a consortium of Japanese investors led by Sojitz Corporation (the other Japanese investors being ENEOS Corporation, Chugoku Electric Power, Chudenko Corporation and Shikoku Electric Power).
TNB gives tips on how to save electricity during hot weather

KUALA LUMPUR – As the hot spell is expected to continue until next month, this will result in an increase in electricity consumption.
As such, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has today issued a guideline to help consumers save on their electricity bill.

Among simple daily practices are switching off the air conditioner, fan and lights in an empty room as well as turning off electrical appliances such as computers and monitors when not in use.
According to the guideline when the weather is hot, covering windows with thick curtains to block direct sunlight can prevent heat gain and reduce the load on an air conditioner to cool down a room, thus lowering electricity consumption.
