Nasdaq advanced. 2 . Good enough is the theme for the day. Why not start with the ultimate good enough . Lets start with apple. They reported a number that showed a 15 revenue decline yet the stock is flying in after hours. How in the heck can it decline like that be bullish . Simple. Because there were many, many worries going into the quarter. Even among the bulls that it would be worse, maybe far worse than that. Nope, it was good enough. Better than we thought three months ago. And frankly could have been more than good enough. Tim cook told us. If apple hadnt been supply constrained on its iphone selling almost only 40. 4 million when it could have been many more than that. Plus that Service Revenue stream that i talk about all the time just keeps growing. Cook said it will be the size of a fortune 100 company by this time next year. When we asked him if that meant 28 billion, the value of the Smallest Company on the austere list, he told us, no, it would be more than that. I stan
And it doesnt look like well see nasdaq 5,000 today. Before all of this point talk the nasdaq 5,000 was the level we were really watching. Of course, we dont know what can happen in the final minutes but we are off 22 points on the session which puts us what do you say, about 35 points away from that key level. Again, the record closing high is about 5049. Not going to get there at the end of the february. That gives us a target for march. What we can tell you right now is the board of directors of best buy, and its founder, richard schultz, has been trying to put together a group to essentially buy the company in a go private transaction, have extended the deadline in which he would need to come with a bid for best buy and created a window in fact that will begin on february 1st next year and end with the end of that month on february the 28th. Giving schultz the opportunity to look at not Just Christmas sales, but the end of their fiscal year, which will end at best buy on the 31st of january. And that window, again, will be 28 days long giving him an opportunity to continue
