The Director of Public Health in the HSE Midlands and a Castlerea native has asked people to continue to adhere to public health guidance, saying that a potential fourth wave of Covid-19 is here.
Dr Una Fallon told the Herald that the HSE is continuing to deal with the outbreak of the Delta variant in the Athlone area.
Cases are mainly in younger people, who she stresses have had a very difficult time during the pandemic both in terms of their education and social development. “If the modelling is right we can expect a large number of cases in the comingweeks. Even if only a small percentage of them are hospitalised or need ICU care, a small percentage of a big number could impact on services,” Dr Fallon said.
