Monica Tapped to Host True Crime Series Infamy: When Fame Turns Deadly on VH1

This season will cover cases such as the 2010 murder of NBA player Lorenzen Wright, the death of a popular Chicago radio personality, a model found at the bottom of a swimming pool and hip hop artist Young Greatness, who was gunned down in his New Orleans hometown in 2018.  The series is produced by Emre Sahin, Sarah Wetherbee and Kelly McPherson’s Karga Seven Pictures, the company behind MTV’s recent “True Life: Crime” and a variety of other true-crime and unscripted projects for Discovery, Nat Geo, A&E and others. Eight-episode series premieres June 7 Reid Nakamura | May 10, 2021 @ 8:00 AM Grammy-winning R&B singer Monica is hosting a new true crime series for VH1 titled “Infamy: When Fame Turns Deadly,” TheWrap has learned exclusively. The eight-episode series “explores celebrity cases where notoriety and fame turn fatal,” according to the network’s description. “Each episode unravels the mystery and the motives behind the crimes, revealing a dark side to being in the public eye when betrayal, jealousy and greed lead to tragedy.” Watch a teaser for the series above. The cases covered on the first season include the murder of NBA player Lorenzen Wright and the investigation of his shocking death; hip-hop artist on the rise Young Greatness, who was gunned down under mysterious circumstances in his hometown of New Orleans; a runway model found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool; and a popular Chicago radio personality targeted “by someone nobody could expect.”

Karga Seven hands Wolf development role

Red Arrow-owned Karga Seven Pictures has promoted Jason Wolf to exec VP of production and development. Jason Wolf Wolf joined the LA-based firm in 2015 as showrunner and exec producer of History series Hunting Hitler and was most recently senior VP and head of programming. He has produced numerous shows for Karga Seven, including recent series Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch and Contact for Discovery, as well as Bin Laden’s Hard Drive and Atlas of Cursed Places for Nat Geo. Wolf will now oversee all production and development out of Karga’s Los Angeles offices, reporting to founding partners Sarah Wetherbee, Emre Sahin and Kelly McPherson.
