Empress Ale to distribute gluten-free Czech lager Celia in UK British craft beer brand Empress Ale has acquired the distribution rights for the Czech lager Celia. Launched in 2012 and brewed in Zatec, Czech Republic, Celia is a gluten-free, organic, vegan beer brand which its owners say makes a strong proposition in today s drinks market, where more people are seeking beverages that cater to their detary requirements or choices. Drinkers can choose between the light and hoppy Celia Organic or the rich and malty Celia Dark. The lagers are made with Movarian malt, Saaz hops - a heritage, protected variety - and locally sourced water, and its batch brewing process utilises natural carbonation.

Empress Ale replaces Carlsberg Group as Celia lager UK distributor

UK brewer Empress Ale has replaced Carlsberg Group as the UK distributor for Zatecky Pivovar s Czech lager Celia. Celia, which is already stocked by Waitrose and Ocado will look to launch nationwide campaigns from this month Empress, which announced the new deal last week, said it will launch advertising campaigns and look to expand Celia s footprint in the UK off-trade. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. An Empress spokesperson confirmed to just-drinks that Celia s previous distributor was Carlsberg, without giving further details. Carlsberg added Celia, which is gluten-free, to its UK distribution portfolio in 2016. The brewer handled two Celia beers - the 4.5% abv Celia Organic and the 5.7% abv Celia Dark.

New drinks launches 8 January

The first new product round-up of 2021 includes another low and no twist on a BrewDog staple and TV’s Phillip Schofield adding a second wine to his growing range. Signature Brew unveils black IPA Nocturne  East-London based beermaker Signature Brew has created 6.66% ABV Nocturne Black IPA – a blackened beer which is one of the first to feature Yakima Chief Hop’s new strain, Talus.  One of the first beers in the world to utilise the new hop, Yakima Chief Hops visited the Walthamstow brewery to help brew the beer.  The brew features grapefruit and violet notes alongside tropical fruit and roasted malt flavours.
