South East govs ask security agencies, vigilantes to enforce ban on open grazing

• Seek legal backing for Ebubeagu Governors of the South East geo-political zone, on Sunday, rose from a closed-door meeting with the leadership of religious, political and traditional institutions in the zone, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Joint Security Committee, at the Government House, Enugu, reiterating the adoption of EBUBEAGU as the common Joint Security outfit with its Regional Headquarters in Enugu. They also ordered immediate enforcement of the ban on open grazing by herdsmen in all the states of the South East. In a Communiqué read by Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum (SEGF) and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, the leaders stated that “EBUBEAGU will work with the Police and other security agencies in her operations to protect lives and property in South East”.

Buhari extends school feeding to Almajiri schools, others On By Joseph Erunke, Abuja PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the ongoing school feeding programme in the country to Almajiri schools and other children in non-conventional education settings. The president also approved the expansion of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIPs) to accommodate more traders, graduates, farmers, among others. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, disclosed these, Monday, in Abuja, during the 4th Annual Review of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, NHGSFP. The minister said given the  president’s  approval of increment in the number of beneficiaries, the NHGSFP will include additional five million pupils, “including children in non-conventional educational settings.”
