April 19, 2021 GMT
WASHINGTON (BUSINESS WIRE) Apr 19, 2021
Husch Blackwell Strategies announced today that Joe Novotny, former reading clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives, has joined the firm as a principal in its federal practice group in Washington. In 2010, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi appointed Joe as House Reading Clerk, a position he held until he retired from Capitol Hill in early March.
Speaker Pelosi praised his nearly 30-year career in the House and his tenure as reading clerk in particular saying he used “his strong, steady presence and trusted leadership to advance the ability of the People’s House to do the people’s work. His historic and effective leadership has helped engage and connect the American people with their democracy.”
that there was no discussion with republicans, there was no consultation, and a result of that was just part of the continued grandstanding of nancy pelosi and chuck schumer in the house and the senate where it really didn t actually try to address some of the problems. employment nondiscrimination is something we need to continually address. president obama was not able to get it done. nothing we ve seen in legislation introduced is going to rectify that situation. in some of the issues that you just addressed, in a lot of them, especially with specifically the case of the laborer announcement that came out two or three days ago, the proposed rules change, again, it does nothing to actually repeal any existing protections that the lgbtq community currently enjoys under law. that s a lie. it s not a lie. that s a lie. guys, just one second. here s what we re going to do, charles.
about the employment nondiscrimination act. but when s the legal recourse for someone that feels discriminated zbhens. after today, yesterday, this ruling, you can file a complaint with the equal opportunity commission. it s a federal agency that protects people from diskram discrimination on the job and if you canning prove you ve been discriminated against on the job because you re gay or lesbian, you will have a claim. and again, the employment nondiscrimination about languishing on capitol hill. this s the legislation to try to get through. maybe this will encourage or reinvigorate that conversation. do you think? we can sure hope so. right? i mean we think that perhaps the supreme court ruling ushered in a new day and, you know it is interesting on this eeoc ruling. justice roberts in the original
