Over 60 firms in Ilocos failed to remit workers SSS contribution

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - More than 60 companies out of the 2,506 inspected in the Ilocos Region have failed to remit the Social Security Service (SSS) payments of their workers in 2022. In an interview on Wednesday, Department of Labor and Employment-Ilocos Region (DOLE-1) information officer Justin Marbella said a consultative meeting on Jan. 20 between the SSS and the DOLEhas been held to address this. "The DOLE has no jurisdiction to enforce this particular social benefit, hence our agency touched base with SSS to apprise them of this concern," he said. Marbella said although 97 percent of the inspected establishments were compliant and only more than 60 or 2.7 percent were not able to remit, they are still targeting a 100-percent compliance. Minimum wage hikes in Ilocos Region approved

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - The daily minimum wage rate in the Ilocos Region will soon increase to PHP372 and PHP400 following the approval of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-1 (RTWPB1). In an interview on Tuesday, Department of Labor and Employment Ilocos Region information officer Justin Paul Marbella said the new minimum wage rate is now up for the affirmation of the National Wages and Productivity Commission. "After which, it will be published in local newspapers and then the new rate shall be effective in 15 days upon publication," he said. Marbella said the RTWPB-1 approved on May 11 the minimum wage of PHP400 daily for all non-agriculture establishments employing 10 or more employees; and PHP372 a day for all non-agriculture firms employing less than 10 employees; and agriculture, whether plantation or non-plantation.
