COLUMBUS – At their meeting on April 24, the Colorado County Commissioners approved four proclamations to be recognized in Colorado County throughout the month of May.
Knox County, Ill.- The Knox County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday passed a resolution to make April 29th "Deputy Nicholas Weist Day" in the county every year. The board passed two other proclamations recognizing National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, May 1st through 6th, and National Police Week, May 14th-20th. TV Station WQAD reports that on April 29th, 2022, Deputy Wiess was struck and killed by a suspect's vehicle while setting up spike strips at US Highway 150 and 150th Avenue in Henry County. The suspect who struck Wiess, 23-year-old Daylon Richardson is facing multiple charges in the incident, including two counts of murder.
