I have found myself rather exhausted by the anti-union rhetoric that now consistently comes out of The Day’s editorial board.
The recent editorial, “Union objections should not stop state labor-force study,” (Dec. 18) perpetuates a misleading narrative on where the State Employee Bargaining Agent Coalition stands on this issue. While the editorial board mentions Boston Consulting Group, they conveniently leave out the $2 million price tag of taxpayer money going to an out-of-state consultant. There are plenty of agencies within the state that are capable of completing this work at a much lower cost. You cannot tout the importance of “saving taxpayers money” while in the same breath advocating for the state to spend millions of dollars hiring an outside agency to do work that could be done by workers already employed within the state.
