Covid-19: Sarawak records 353 new cases, record high since start of pandemic

KUCHING: Sarawak reported a new record high of 353 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Feb 24), the first time the daily figure has breached 300 since the start of the pandemic.

Two new clusters in Sarawak linked to funeral, school

KUCHING: Two new Covid-19 clusters were detected in Sarawak on Monday (Feb 22). Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the Emperoh Jambu cluster was linked to a funeral at Kampung Emperoh Jambu in Padawan here from Feb 3 to 5 and had 60 confirmed cases to date. The village will be placed under an enhanced movement control order for 14 days from Feb 23 to March 8. The index case is a 45-year-old man who tested positive on Feb 16 while undergoing screening before starting work. He is believed to have infected his family members, who likely spread it to other contacts when attending the funeral of the index case s wife, he said at the state disaster management committee s briefing here on Monday (Feb 22).
