police officers. wolf, we know there were several police officers who were shot on saturday. officers who came and responded to this call and entered into this building, even though there was still an active shooter inside. the police chief was actually over here earlier speaking with some people, speaking with some of the people who had come to pay their respects. and he said he really wanted to get all of his officers out of the hospital. that was something that was really important to him as the community was dealing with the aftermath of this tragedy. and that is certainly something we have seen the president do several times, as well, when he s visited tragedies like this. wolf, a lot of this is going to be a big empathy test for the president. it s something he has struggled with throughout his presidency. it makes you think of the time at the parkland shooting when he had that piece of paper and an aide writing out instructions saying we can hear you. we ll see what the outcome
their infrastructure, it is absolutely unconscionable, and history is not going to be kind to him. and so many are working so hard, as you know here, representative, on puerto rico at the moment to try to make things better. that also happening as he gets there on tuesday. but before he gets there, there is today, representative. there is the nfl. there is the issue and the controversy about players again kneeling to protest police brutality today, that happening for a second week in a row. we have our worksheet out. we ve been following every game over the last two weekends so far. when you look at what they are doing right now, these players, as they are protesting, we understand why they re doing it, but why is the president so obsessed with focusing on something that for them is so personal? he doesn t seem, again, to be passing the empathy test here. that s because this dishonest president is again playing to a certain part of his constituency, pointing to those
impression, offering presidential comfort to texas and louisiana saturday. even taking selfies with some of the victims of hurricane harvey. for trump, the focus was lesson death toll of 42 and the long road to recovery, but on whether he could pass the presidential empathy test, a test many thought he failed first time around. again, had to give it a second try. you normally don t have to give it a second try. the second time must be the charm. trump s jolly comforter in chief act this time around caused the media to swoon. yes, there he is, engaging with real life americans at the massive center in houston, military men in uniform, distressed parents, and babies, babies, babies. joining me, conservative commentator kristin hag land, dean ogadala, and jennifer rubin of the washington post.
if they attach a debt limit increase into the bill, that is going to cause massive problems. scott, does the president pass that important test, his first major national major natural disaster, does he pass the empathy test here? he certainly is doing a good job of it today. i think it s better scenes and better images than earlier this week. earlier this week, what you saw was president trump doing what he s tended to do on the campaign trail and so far in his presidency, meeting with people in a controlled setting and having a meeting and there were logistical reasons not to go down to the convention center in houston when so much of the city was still under water but today us out and interacting with people and giving them that boost to say the country is going to be here to back you up. but i think that i think that emergency funding could get tricky pretty quickly. the $8 billion or so, looks like that will be passed next week, according to most congressional leaders. that
not a circuit court judge. i personally feel it should be someone who is an academic, someone who has held public office, an outstanding lawyer. the president said he ll take that into consideration. i felt very, very good about the meeting. so the democratic leader felt good. the ranking republican feels goods. i want to put up a class photo of the current supreme court. you see justice stevens there. how important, you re a former state attorney general, former prosecutor. you were considered once for a federal judgeship. you had a hard time in your confirmation hearing. when you look at this picture, how important is it in this day and age, people say the court should look like america, you ve sparred with the president when he uses the empathy test. one could argue, there are nation americno
