Waxahachie City Council approves Emory Lakes zoning change, PID

Zoning change, public improvement district OK’d for 9,000-unit development Waxahachie Daily Light A major 2,800-acre development west of Interstate 35E took a huge step forward Monday night as the Waxahachie City Council unanimously approved a zoning change and development agreement, as well as the creation of a public improvement district. Emory Lakes will be built in phases and when completed will contain nearly 9,000 total units. The area is roughly bounded to the north by Business U.S. 287 and FM 875, to the east by I-35E, to the south by FM 1446 and to the west by Lone Elm Road. “It’s a small city within a city,” councilmember Doug Barnes said. “We’re always ready for growth, but we want good growth.”

New Emory Lakes PID on Waxahachie City Council agenda Monday night

Emory Lakes development covers about 3,000 acres west of Interstate 35E Waxahachie Daily Light A public hearing and action on a resolution creating the Emory Lakes Public Improvement District will be before the Waxahachie City Council during its regular meeting set for Monday night. The new public improvement district, or PID, will cover a major project planned for the west side of Interstate 35E consisting of about 3,000 acres and about 10,000 total lots. In the last City Council meeting on March 14, councilmembers accepted a petition to create the new PID and set the public hearing for Monday. City Manager Michael Scott said the hearing will align with the zoning and development agreement associated with the Emory Lakes development.
