Network Norfolk : Dauntless duo to ride Via Beata for Norfolk charity

The Norfolk and Norwich Christian community website Duo to ride Via Beata for homelessness charity  John Pinnington, a former headteacher of Notre Dame, is cycling from St David’s to Lowestoft with a friend to raise money for the homelessness project Emmaus. Together with Paul Appleby, he will be riding 480 miles along the route of the Via Beata over seven days. The pair hope to raise more than £6000 for Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney.  John writes: “When you go for sponsorship, it is always a bit scary because there is a greater responsibility around completing the event. However, doing a ride across the widest part of the UK along the Via Beata is such a great opportunity. Paul and I felt compelled to put our efforts towards helping others not so fortunate as ourselves.

The popular Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney shop in Ditchingham was closed on March 16 last year in line with COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. Based at the All Hallows Convent, Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney is also home to 32 formerly homeless people, so the charity decided to keep the site closed to the public until the autumn to keep the residents safe. The Norfolk and Norwich Christian community website Norfolk homelessness charity set to reopen shop  Homelessness charity Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney is reopening the doors to its popular Ditchingham charity shop after a year-long closure.  The charity was forced to shut the shop on March 16, 2020 in line with the lockdown restrictions. Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, based at the All Hallows Convent, is also home to 32 formerly homeless people, so the charity decided to keep the site closed to the public until the autumn to keep the residents safe.  Unfortunately, shortly before it was due to reopen in November, the second national lockdown was announced. This was followed by a third lockdown in January, meaning the doors of the shop have remained closed for more than 12 months.
