New shop in Bradford city centre seeking more volunteers | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

A HOMELESSNESS charity is thrilled to have opened its second shop in Bradford - with this one being in the city centre. Located at 54-60 Sunbridge Road on the corner opposite the former TJ Hughes department store, Emmaus Bradford has two floors filled with second-hand furniture, homewares, collectibles, clothes, books, electricals, toys and more. The charity hope the new store, along with their other one on Cross Lane, will help raise essential funds to open the first Emmaus community in the city, which would provide a stable home, ongoing support and meaningful work to people who have experienced homelessness. Chair of Emmaus Bradford Rachel De Luca said: “We are really excited to open our second shop in Bradford.

Rough sleeping is at a 10 year low in Bradford, figures reveal THE number of rough sleepers in Bradford has fallen to its lowest rate in more than a decade in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of people sleeping rough recorded in the district in Autumn 2020 was just five, down from 13 the previous year and the lowest number in at least ten years. Of these, four were men and one was a woman, with one person being British and the other four being EU Nationals, and all were over the age of 26. The Government figures are taken as a “single night snapshot” of rough sleeping by local authority.
