A pre-burial Service has been held in honour of Dr Emmanuel Evans-Anfom, a surgeon, academician and statesman who died on April 7, 2021 in Accra.
The service was conducted by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Osu Ebenezer Congregation, at the behest of the Osu Salem Presbyterian Old Boys Association.
Dr Evans-Anfom was the only surviving old boy among those who enrolled in the early days of the school in the late 1800s.
In attendance were his family members the congregation as well as current and old boys of the school, also referred to as Osu Salem Boys School.
The occasion was marked with singing of hymns by various singing groups of the church while tributes were read by persons whose lives were impacted by Dr Evans-Anfom who was also an active member of the church.

A book of condolence has been opened at the Ringway residence of the late Dr Emmanuel Evans-Anfom, the celebrated Ghanaian surgeon, academic and statesman.
Dr Evans-Anfom, Ghana’s oldest medical doctor, died last Wednesday at the age of 101.
The family have begun receiving sympathisers, and to ensure that there is no overcrowding at the house, it has released a schedule for the signing of the book.

Announcing the times when sympathisers could visit to commiserate with them, the family said the book would be opened on week days from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

Comets might not be seen physically by the young, when one of the makers of our country s history departs the ephemeral world.
Not so, however, for senior citizens and others, who have graduated to the class of senior citizenry, and others who cherish history, and hence, take the pains to find out those whose indefatigable efforts have brought us this far, as a nation.
Dr. Emmanuel Evans-Anfom, the oldest medical doctor in the country, has passed on to eternity, after serving humanity markedly.
Unsurprisingly, news about his transition, resonated more among those who acknowledge his contribution to the development of the medical profession, than with the mundane.
