(File photo) CEBU CITY - To prevent motorcycle dealers from under-reporting their sold units, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) allowed its field office in Central Visayas to open two new registration units (NRU) that will fast-track registration of motorbikes. Victor Emmanuel Caindec, LTO-Region 7 chief, said in a statement on Friday that the approval of the LTO central office for the opening of the two NRUs came after eight years of not allowing them to operate. He said such achievement of the agency is considered an additional legacy of President Rodrigo Duterte in affording comfort and convenience of motorcycle owners. This development came after LTO chief Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante signed Office Order No. 2022-117 authorizing its regional office here to process applications for the initial registration of motor vehicles and the "Do-It-Yourself" (DIY) sales reporting system. Victor Emmanuel Caindec, LTO-7 regional director, said in a statement the TDC for new driver's license applicants can be availed of starting next week. The program is set to allocate a total of 2,000 scholarship slots for residents of Tagbilaran City, and for the municipalities of Dauis, Panglao, and Garcia Hernandez.
