Five persons, including the driver of a Toyota Hilux pickup truck, lost their lives last Saturday evening in a head on collision at Adinkra on the Obuasi-Dunkwa-On-Offin road.
Seventeen other passengers, who sustained various degrees of injury, were rushed to hospitals in Obuasi.
The incident, which happened around 7 p.m., occurred when the Toyota Hilux, with registration number GC 9888-20, driving towards Dunkwa, attempted to overtake a leading vehicle and in the process veered off its lane and collided head- on with a Sprinter bus, with registration number AW 6620-13, on its way towards Obuasi, which had passengers on board.

Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTD), Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) are embarking on road safety Campaign dubbed “Arrive Alive’’ aimed at reducing carnage on the roads before, during and after Christmas.
The campaign seeks to sensitise road users and the public on the need to prioritise road safety ahead of the yuletide as part of efforts to reduce fatalities on the road.
