5 men in court for allegedly smoking hemp, fighting in public On Kindly Share This Story: Five men on Wednesday appeared in a Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun for allegedly smoking hemp in public. The police charged Popoola Idris, 21; Efikioyha Tunwemi,26; Akanji Jimoh,30; Omodewu Monday,36 and Akinwandi Nureni,28, whose addresses were not provided with two count of conspiracy, constituting nuisance and smoking hemp in public. The prosecution counsel, Insp Emmanuel Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants and others, at large, committed the offence on Jan. 27,2021 at about 11.55 p.m. in Ijoko area in Ota. Adaraloye said the defendants smoked dried weed, suspected to be cannabis and fought in public in the community.

Adeyemi held that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubts. TODAY January 14, 2021 A Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun, on Thursday sentenced a 29-year-old vagrant, Abass Adeniyi to four months imprisonment for causing obstruction. Adeniyi, whose address was not provided, is charged with breach of peace, malicious damage, conspiracy and unlawfully obstruction on a public road. He pleaded not guilty. Adeyemi held that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubts. The magistrate held that reasonable doubt is the traditional and highest, standard of proof that must be exceeded to secure a guilty verdict in a criminal case in a court of law. Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Adaraloye, told the court that the convict and others, at large, committed the offence on Dec.11,2020, at about 3a.m. at the Idiroko road in Ota.

Vanguard News Police arraign man, 24, over alleged theft of N240,000 On Kindly Share This Story: The Police in Ogun State on Tuesday arraigned a 24-year-old man, Ndubuisi Emeka, before an Ota Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing N240,000 belonging to his friend. Emeka, who lives at No. 21 Ifelodun Street, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, is facing a charge of theft. The Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence between August and October at Ajisafe Close, Oko Baba Ajeri, Ota in Ogun. Adaraloye said that the defendant, who is friend of the complainant, Mohammed Abdulqudus, stole N240,000 from his Guaranty Trust Bank Account.
