Every year since 2010, The Learning Network has invited teenagers around the world to add The New York Times to their summer reading lists. So far, more than 70,000 have done so.
If you are looking for ways to offer students more “voice and choice,” we hope our open-ended contest can help. Every week, we ask participants to choose something in The Times that has piqued their interest, and then tell us why. At the end of the week, judges from the Times newsroom pick their favorite responses, and we publish them. It’s that simple

Vivid Goliath Group has strengthened its UK toys and games division with the appointment of Ben Hogg to the role of marketing manager. Alongside the firm’s wealth of ranges, Hogg will work to build out its expanding strategic and adult gaming sectors.
Known for his role with Asmodee UK for the past ten years, Hogg brings with him a wealth of marketing and industry experience as he looks to build our Vivid Goliath Group’s distribution to include specialist retail partners, among other roles.
He will be responsible for brand and marketing activations across Vivid Goliath’s wide portfolio including the likes of Ryan’s World, Love Diana, Reaxion, SuperSand, and its growing portfolio of kids’, family, and adult games. Hogg will also manage a team of brand managers and work closely to steer Vivid’s TV, PR and digital marketing output.

In August 2020, 55 COVID-19 cases were identified among 81 attendees of indoor high-intensity classes at a Chicago exercise facility. Twenty-two (40%) persons with COVID-19 attended on or after the day symptoms began. Most attendees (76%) wore masks infrequently, including persons with (84%) and without COVID-19 (60%).
What are the implications for public health practice?
To reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission in fitness facilities, attendees should wear a mask, including during high-intensity activities when ≥6 ft apart. In addition, facilities should enforce physical distancing, improve ventilation, and encourage attendees to isolate after symptom onset or receiving a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result and to quarantine after a potential exposure to SARS-CoV-2 and while awaiting test results. It seems that almost every sector in the traditional toy space can cite a moment of increased sales and consumer interest over the course of a 2020 plagued with stay at home children and socially distanced families.
Compounded by the latest figures from the NPD Group, the toy industry really hasn’t fared too badly out of what has been an undeniably tumultuous year across the board, managing to find its way through a mire of lockdowns and restrictions to stumble into a reported eight per cent lift in year on year toy sales up to the week of November 1st alone.
