“If you’re looking at the future, look at District 6 and study the population,” said Emma Pena-McCleave, project coordinator of the Mexican American History Project Greeley. “For me, that is the future of Greeley. Read the writing on the wall, and it speaks loudly for UNC and the community.”
The honorees are: Dr. Laurie Berdahl, advocate for youth health; Erin Brady, community advocate; Diane Miller, community leader; Emma Pena-McCleave, community empowerment; Karent Plascenia, community champion; and Karen Trusler, leader in education.
A book documenting the history of Mexican Americans in Greeley is closer to becoming a reality after 44 local residents completed interviews with the Mexican American History Project.
