A Winnipeg couple is building houses in the Dominican Republic virtually this year. Brent and Wendy Wong own Shine Dental in Winnipeg. Brent is the lead dentist and Wendy went to school for interior design. The couple has put their passion to use in the kingdom of God with their ministry called Shine the Light.  A normal trip would take place three times a year. We go down in January, May, and October and we ve done these trips for the past 15 years or so, says Brent.

(Beverly Grant/Facebook) Article continues below advertisement ↴ A mother and grandmother say their prayers are answered after Manitobans helped them donate toys to the Children s Hospital Foundation.  In 2017, Tiffany Grant s daughter, Emma-Lee Arnould died of cancer. To honour Emma, Tiffany and her mother Beverly donate toys to the Children s Hospital Foundation.  Since publishing a story about the women raising funds to give gifts, anonymous donations have brought toy drive well above its $1,000 original goal. After hearing Emma s story on Friday, a woman called Beverly and donated 11 porcelain dolls to the drive and gave the two women, and Beverly s other daughter Misty, each a bracelet.

Mitchell Middle School s Principal made sure their tradition of collecting donations for Southeast Helping Hands and Steinbach Community Christmas was not forgotten this year. Andrew Mead says collecting food for charity is a big part of the Christmas Season over at Mitchell Middle. This year was a bit of a challenge because we don t have a lot of kids at school and we are just trying to encourage families to stay home. We thought we would do a mobile pick up. I put a little Rudolph on the front of my truck and drove around Mitchell and met families at the end of their driveways and they filled my truck up.
