Nathan Edge, 26, plays for a blind soccer team in the United Kingdom. After losing his eyesight completely seven years ago, Edge has kept his spirits up. But when he realized that he couldn t experience his pregnant girlfriend s 12-week ultrasound, it hit him that this milestone was something he was going to miss out on. That is, until mom-to-be Emma Fotheringham gave him the surprise of a lifetime.
“When we got home, we shared the scans with our family and everybody was getting excited about seeing the baby for the first time,” Edge told
Today. “Being blind rarely ever gets me down I’ve come to terms with it very well but suddenly it hit me, ‘I’ll never be able to see this scan.’”

A blind dad could finally see his unborn baby, thanks to a friend who made an embroidered ultrasound scan. He felt a little sad after his partner had her 12-week ultrasound, thinking that he could not understand how their baby looked like while inside the womb.
Seven years ago, Nathan Edge went completely blind. He told TODAY Parents that they shared the scans with their family after they got home from the check-up. He said that everybody was excited to see the baby for the first time.
Never been down because of blindness
The 26-year-old explained that he has never been down because of his blindness. However, when it hit him that he would not be able to see the scan of his unborn baby, he suddenly felt sad about his impairment.

A dad-to-be in the U.K. just received a pretty amazing gift: an ultrasound scan of his baby that he’s able to experience, as a blind man.
Nathan Edge and his partner Emma Fotheringham, who live in Mansfield, England, are expecting a baby in May. They recently had their standard 12-week ultrasound scan.
“When we got home, we shared the scans with our family, and everybody was getting excited about seeing the baby for the first time,” Edge, 26, told Today . “Being blind rarely ever gets me down I’ve come to terms with it very well but suddenly it hit me, ‘I’ll never be able to see this scan.’”
