A Royal Sweep: Eastern Hancock takes doubleheader against rival Knightstown 12/18/20 11:49 PM KNIGHTSTOWN The crowd was thinner than past years on Friday night, but the Eastern Hancock Royals’ offense proved hefty against archrival Knightstown. A day after the junior varsity teams won a pair from the Panthers, the Royals’ boys and girls varsity basketball teams followed suit during their doubleheader with a sweep in the annual showdown. The Eastern Hancock girls opened Friday night with a decisive 65-14 victory, and the Royals’ boys closed it out with a 60-34 win. Prep Roundup: Dragons swim team sweeps senior night 12/12/20 12:07 AM New Palestine s Adrianna Huston competes in the Girls 500 Yard Freestyle against Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020. (Tom Russo | Daily Reporter) The New Palestine swim teams picked up a pair of wins in the pool Thursday on Senior Night. The Dragons boys team pushed past New Castle, 88-84, and defeated Eastern Hancock, 107-65. The girls team beat New Castle, 96-81, and the Royals by a count of 125-26. Both Dragons and Royals had individual winners in the boys competition. Eastern Hancock’s Matthew McDaniel won the 200-yard IM (2:15.95) and 500 freestyle (5:23.32). New Palestine’s Jack Schwartz won the 50 freestyle (23.97) and 100 butterfly (1:01.40). Austin Lines won the 1-meter diving competition (196.65).
