More than 150 high school leavers now have a better
understanding of careers in New Zealand’s food and fibre
sectors, thanks to the Feed Your Future
campaign. We’re really stoked with how the Feed
Your Future series has gone. We had seven events from
Whangarei to Invercargill throughout May and June, where we
took high school students to visit successful and innovative
primary sector businesses, says GoHort Manager, Emma Boase,
who supports the national network of Career Progression
Managers working to attract people into the horticulture
industry.

A 50 percent jump in the number of nominations for the 2021 Primary Industries New Zealand Awards underpins the amount of innovation and leadership going on in the sector and growing awareness of the need to celebrate it, Terry Copeland says.
The Federated Farmers of NZ chief executive said from 65 nominations, up from just over 40 last year, judges have had the tough task of selecting finalists in seven categories. Winners will be announced at the PINZ Summit in Christchurch on 6 July.

New Zealand Apples and Pears Inc. and GoHort have teamed
up with eCampus NZ to launch 10 free online courses to
attract New Zealanders into roles in the horticulture
industry.
The short, online taster courses introduce
learners to the career opportunities available in
horticulture. They cover a range of topics, from health and
safety to leading a team in an orchard or
packhouse.
The courses are being promoted through the
Ministry for Primary Industries’ Opportunity Grows Here
campaign, which was launched last year to help New
Zealanders find employment opportunities in the primary
sector.
