Kalkhoff Of FSU Beach Volleyball Named Academic All-American

TALLAHASSEE, Fla, Florida State’s Paige Kalkhoff, the 2023 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Beach Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year, has been named as a Third–Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators.  Academically in 2023, Kalkhoff has earned CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, been named to the CCSA All-Academic Team and earned CSC At-Large All-District honors.  She has now earned Academic All-American honors for the first time in her career. The rising senior Public Health major earned a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average in 2023 – her first season at Florida State.  Kalkhoff earned FSU Academic President’s List honors signifying a perfect 4.0 GPA during both the fall of 2022 and spring of 2023 semesters – her first two semesters at Florida State.  Kalkhoff earned Dean’s List honors during all four of her semesters at FIU and holds a 3.98 GPA for her entire collegiate career. “Becoming a student athlete at Florida State has been

FLORIDA STATE'S HEATHER PAYNE NAMED IRELAND'S YOUNG WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    Florida State senior Heather Payne was named Ireland’s Young Women’s International Player of the Year at the 33rd FAI International Awards on Tuesday in her home country.  A native of Ballinasloe, Payne helped the Republic of Ireland senior women’s team qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup for the first time. Payne earned third team All-ACC honors as a defender for the Seminoles as a senior last season.  She played in 18 games for FSU’s 2022 College Cup team and started 16 at right-back.  She totaled four goals and four assists on the season and helped lead a defense that recorded 11 shutouts in 23 games. Payne was a junior on FSU’s NCAA National Championship team in 2021.  She played 110 minutes in the championship match and converted her penalty kick in the shootout victory.  In addition, she earned ACC All-Freshman honors in 2019. Nine Seminoles Earn ALL-ACC Academic Honors

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team had nine student-athletes earn All-ACC Academic honors as Vic Allen, Alice Amendola, Anna Arkadianou, Millie Bissett, Olympe Lancelot, Kristyna Lavickova, Kianah Motosono, Ellie Schoppe, and Mila Saric made the All-ACC Academic Team, which was announced Wednesday. The Seminoles earned a 3.69 grade-point average in the 2022-2023 academic year and a program high 3.77 spring semester GPA. The team had nine earn a 3.5 GPA or higher, which included five 4.0 GPAs in the spring season. Academic requirements for the selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests. Sandercock Joins Athletes Unlimited

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State star pitcher Kathryn Sandercock, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Softball College Draft, has signed on to compete in the fourth Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship season set to start July 28 at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois The 2023 ACC Pitcher of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP and a 2023 NFCA Second Team All-American, Sandercock led Florida State to the ACC Tournament title in 2022 and 2023. Sandercock and the Seminoles defeated Oklahoma St., Washington and Tennessee on their way to the Women’s College World Series Championship Series. She was recently added to the Team USA roster for the 2023 WBSC World Cup – Group A set to take place in Fingal-Dublin, Ireland July 11-15. ONYI ECHEGINI MAKES NIGERIAN WORLD CUP TEAM

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.    Onyi Echegini, a senior midfielder on Florida State’s 2022 College Cup team, has earned a spot on Nigeria’s World Cup team roster. Echegini was named second team All-ACC this past season and was voted to the ACC All-Tournament team.  She scored 11 goals and had six assists for a total of 28 points which tied for the team lead. She started 20 of FSU’s 21 games last season and her 1,374 minutes played in her first season with the Seminoles ranked as the 10th highest on the team. A native of London, England, Echegini will return for the Seminoles for the 2023 season.
