BOARDMAN Boardman’s Emerging Leaders group is no stranger to community projects.
More than a dozen Boardman High School students, along with their adviser Dana Safarek, spent a day helping to prepare for a special holiday food giveaway, sponsored by the Mahoning Valley United Way.
Fourteen volunteers lifted, organized, packed and moved what seemed like mountains of food at the Covelli Centre on Dec. 7. Another group of 17 the township’s high school students were there again Saturday to provide helping hands during the Christmas food giveaway itself.
The food giveaway was a preregistration event, by referral only.
“Our students love to be involved and especially enjoy projects to help the United Way,” Safarek said.
