West Branch student honored for cancer fundraising

Special to The Alliance Review Thirteen-year-old Gavin Clay was awarded the 2021 Inspired Youth Award, for his commitment to supporting research to find cures for childhood cancer.  Clay has been involved in the St. Baldrick s Foundation since his Louisville City Schools classmate DJ Patterson was diagnosed with Ewing s Sarcoma. Clay s efforts over three years have led to more than $32,000 in donations in honor of Patterson, who died in 2019.      Clay is a resident of Louisville who now attends West Branch Middle School, where his mother Krista teaches music. Clay s fundraising team kept his hometown s identity with the name Constitution Cancer Crushers, after Louisville s status as the Constitution City.
