In spite of COVID-19, Northwestâs St. Jude Up âtil Dawn held a hybrid version of its third annual Cut Loose fundraising event Feb. 18, altering the event from previous years. Members of the St. Jude Up âtil Dawn executive board, 28 hair donors and the donorsâ sponsors joined a Zoom session where the donors got their hair cut. Participants then made their way to Bearcat Arena to get their hair touched up by professionals.Â
The hair collected from Cut Loose is sent to Children with Hair Loss in South Rockwood, Michigan, where the hair is processed and made into wigs for children and young adults with medically-related hair loss. In order to turn the hair into wigs, the hair must be at least eight inches in length.Â
Fire officials stress safety precautions when using space heaters

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - It’s a warning we bring you every year- if you are using a space heater during this frigid weather, fire officials want you to be especially cautious.
“It’s possible it could cause a fire itself,” said Grag Hecht.
Greg Hecht is the Fire Marshall for the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.
He is concerned about the electrical current that can come through a space heater.
“If the wiring becomes over heated, that’s where we run into a possibility of a fire,” said Hecht.
