Inspiration works in mysterious ways.
Calgary singer-songwriter Emily Triggs seems a touch reluctant at first to give details of where the first glimmers for her song, Light You Up, came from. But apparently, it can be traced to Triggs watching a vintage boxing match on television from the 1980s, which were the early days of women’s boxing. It occurred to the Calgary-based songwriter that while the athletes were opponents locked in combat, they really had to lean on each other and work together to make sure the fight became a successful event.
