Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chris Godwin supports ban on tying up unattended dogs

Chris Godwin, wide receiver for the Super Bowl LV champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wants lawmakers to free up a bill that would outlaw tying up dogs to trees and posts and leaving them unattended. Godwin on Monday wrote to state Rep. Wyman Duggan, R-Jacksonville, on behalf of PETA to ask for a hearing for the bill (HB 177) in the Civil Justice and Property Rights committee Duggan chairs. The measure  sponsored by Emily Slosberg, D-Boca Raton   prohibits leaving dogs and cats tethered alone outdoors, especially in Florida s sun, heat and life-threatening storms. “It would save the lives of countless vulnerable animals and reduce the need for kind, caring people to risk their own lives rescuing animals in dangerous weather conditions,”  wrote Godwin, who has two adopted rescue dogs, Ziggy and Ghost.
