ALLENDALE, Mich. The No. 3 seeded Northern Michigan University women’s lacrosse team kept things close in the early going but ultimately saw their season conclude with a 17-7 loss to No. 2 seed Davenport University in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinal action on Friday evening, at Grand Valley State University.
The Panthers opened up the game’s scoring with a goal at 28:51 in the first half. Just 45 seconds later, the Wildcats found the back of the net on their first shot of the game with a Katelyn Mongold goal.
Davenport was able to notch two more goals to build a 3-1 lead. At the 20:40 mark, Chloe Everson scored for NMU with an assist from Madeline Bittell. The goal was the first of Everson’s collegiate career.

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s lacrosse team fell to Grand Valley State University 19-9 Friday evening in the first of a two-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) series.
The Lakers scored the first three goals of the game to pull ahead in the early going. Clara Johnson put a stop to the run with her first goal as a Wildcat with an assist from Madeline Bittell at 24:31. NMU pulled within one when Emily Renfrew was able to find the back of the net 23 seconds later.
GVSU put two more goals on the board after the Wildcat run. Jessica Daniels got her first goal of the game, assisted by Bittell, to bring NMU back within two.

MARQUETTE, Mich. Two more home games await the Northern Michigan University women’s lacrosse in the regular season.
The Wildcats face Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Grand Valley State University Friday and Sunday in Marquette.
The first game is Friday at 6 p.m. while the second is Sunday at 12 p.m.

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s lacrosse set the program record for most wins in a season when they clinched their fifth win of 2021 with a 19-5 win against Ashland University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Friday tilt.
Aleya Speas notched the first goal of the game, assisted by Madeline Bittell, just 34 seconds into the action. It was the first goal in a 6-0 NMU run.
Jessica Daniels was the next to score for the Wildcats, just 20 seconds later. Emily Renfrew put one into the net to up the NMU advantage to 3-0.
