.-The Powerhouse has today announced the appointment of Emily McDaniel, an esteemed curator, educator and writer from the Kalari Clan of the Wiradjuri nation in Central New South Wales, in the new role of Director, First Nations.
The most significant First Nations role appointed by the Powerhouse since the museum was founded in 1881, Emily McDaniel in the Director, First Nations leadership role will establish a First Nations Team that will be central to the renewal of the Powerhouse Museum. This will include the development of the new flagship Powerhouse Parramatta, the expansion of the Museums Discovery Centre, the renewal of Powerhouse Museum Ultimo and the ongoing programming of Sydney Observatory.

The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown has reopened following a thorough redesign. The property, which is the largest hotel in the state of Arizona, has been transformed to highlight several of the brand’s new design signatures while also drawing upon the visual identity of the surrounding community. Upgrades were accomplished through a design collaboration between Dallas-based Looney & Associates and Marriott’s Global Design and Global Design Strategies teams. Baskervill executed guestroom designs as well.

We can all agree that we’re glad to close the books on 2020.
It was a devastating year for restaurants in Birmingham, many of which closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and all of which had to adapt to the “new” normal of curbside service and restricted seating.
But 2021 is finally here, and soon, we hope and pray, we can return to the “old” normal and enjoy going out to lunch or dinner with our friends without worrying about wearing a mask or having our temperature checked.
