During the campaign, Youngkin had promised voters he would end what he called the “Inherently Divisive Policies, Programs, Training, and Curricula” centered on race. Conservative parents had been protesting ideologically charged “antiracism” training in schools across the state. A year later, the conflicts born of “Critical Race Theory” are still playing out in Virginia schools.
A white former assistant school principal can move forward with her lawsuit alleging race-based harassment by fellow school staff after a federal court said her claims of civil rights violations and a hostile work environment deserve to be heard in front of a federal jury.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) A Virginia school board asked a judge Thursday to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a former assistant principal who says she was harassed and humiliated after she raised concerns about a mandatory anti-racism teacher training program.
Emily Mais, who worked at the Agnor-Hurt Elementary School in Charlottesville, said in her lawsuit that she was bullied by some of her co-workers after she accidentally used the term “colored people” during the final training session in June 2021.
