Hilltop Elementary School fifth grade students decorate flower pots and replant flowers for Stonerise Moundsville.
Students at Hilltop Elementary spent their Wednesday morning getting their hands dirty to brighten the days of residents at Stonerise Moundsville.
Ten students volunteered their time to decorate flower pots and replant flowers for residents at Stonerise as part of the school’s Kindness Crew. The Kindness Crew consists of around 33 fifth graders who have agreed to take time out of their recess to do acts of service around their community.
School Counselor Shelly Behm said the Kindness Crew, now in its second year of operation, allows students to sacrifice their time to make their community a better place in small ways. Last year, the Kindness Crew volunteered their time wrapping presents and making decorations at Christmas time, but the COVID-19 pandemic made this year’s service a little trickier.
