THIRTY years ago the Outlander phenomenon was born – when the first book in the series was published by American author Diana Gabaldon.
Her eight novels have so far sold 50million copies around the world and sparked off a major Scottish tourism boom.

But it also led to the creation of Scotland’s first major film studio where the global TV sensation Outlander is made with Caitriona Balfe as time travelling nurse Claire Randall along with Sam Heughan’s Jacobite warrior Jamie Fraser.
