The board worked with industry leaders to introduce BOLD the Board Leadership Development Program, which cultivates leadership skills in individuals who want to make a difference in the industry. Board officials say BOLD will also provide industry boards with a continuous infusion of well-rounded professional perspectives to help them stay ahead of market opportunities and to address industry challenges.

USDA seeks nominees for the Hass Avocado Board The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking eight nominees for the Hass Avocado Board. Seats open for nominees are two producer and two importer seats for members and two producer and two importer seats for alternates. USDA will appoint members and alternates to serve three-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2021. Nominations for these seats are due to the board by March 30, 2021. Diane Quagliani In recent years, nutrition research has evolved to show that not all types of dietary fats are harmful to health, and some are beneficial. Since then, retail dietitians have educated shoppers about “good” and “bad” fats, but a new survey from the Hass Avocado Board (HAB) suggests that although progress has been made, consumers still have a lot to learn. Today s consumer knows that there s a difference between good fats and bad fats, but they can t yet make the distinction, said Emiliano Escobedo, HAB Executive Director. This tells us that more education is needed to help differentiate these types of fats, and identify the role they play in our diets and the impact they have on our health.
