Indian student in UAE designs drone to fight air pollution and global warming

Dubai: A Dubai student has designed a drone that he says will absorb pollution from the air, which should in turn also help fight global warming. Tanay Jagannathan, a Grade 8 studentat at GEMS Modern Academy, said he was building an attachment for a drone that would carry sodium hydroxide, a chemical that absorbs carbon dioxide an air pollutant. Carbon dioxide in the air also traps heat, contributing to global warming, which can imbalance the ecosystem. Lab tests Tanay said tests for his idea (at Al Hoty Stanger Laboratory in Dubai) showed sodium hydroxide was found to be most effective among four types of hydroxides to absorb low concentrations of carbon dioxide. Last month, his study was featured in the Journal of Emerging Investigators, a United States-based science journal that publishes “original research” by students.

The deacon s ministry calls everyone to service

The deacon’s ministry calls everyone to service Director of Deacon Personnel for the Archdiocese of Denver  The Archdiocese of Denver has just released a  Deacon Resource Manual providing information on the different service ministries of permanent deacons. It is meant to help the Catholic lay faithful understand and engage in the many ministry opportunities available in Northern Colorado. This resource manual is not all inclusive of deacon responsibilities but provides many services that respond to the Beatitudes and often cross parish boundaries.   Explaining the importance of the service ministry of the deacon requires some background on the three-fold ministry of the deacon.  These ministries are fused into every deacon, who have responded to God’s call to be a living icon of Jesus Christ, the Servant.  The three ministries of the deacon are: the ministry of the Word, liturgy, and charity, justice and service.
