security guards, this red line hotel in rented washington has been empty the last nine months. yet, covid relief money is still paying the $330,000 monthly lease because it had been used as a homeless shelter right after covid hit. according to a king county spokesman they held the hotel after the homeless moved out because, quote, given the uncertainty of needing emergency space, the lease was maintained in case it was needed rapidly again. it s a tragedy to see taxpayers from across the country have to waste their money on something like this. a failed experiment in seattle. of the $1.9 trillion american rescue plan passed in 2021 without a single republican vote, deep blue king county washington received $1.2 billion. about a third of that was for coronavirus local fiscal recovery or clfr. but instead of helping the economy rebound, county executive democrat dow konstantin put nearly $100 million into homelessness, which was a crisis here long before covid. it s an example of wh
