PBBM gives marching order on swift relief for disaster victims

(File photo) MANILA - President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) ordered the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure swift response and relief operations for all victims of natural disasters in the country. "Utos ko sa DSWD ang mabilis na pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng mga biktima ng kalamidad at iba't ibang krisis (I am ordering the DSWD to quickly response to the needs of victims of calamities and other crises)," Marcos said in a speech delivered before attendees at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City. He directed the DSWD to preposition relief goods such as family food packs as well as non-food essentials in its field offices and local government units to guarantee that they would be distributed immediately especially in far-flung areas. (File photo) + May 28, 2021 THE Court of Appeal (CA)’s Cebu station has upheld its earlier decision exonerating former Daanbantayan mayor Augusto Corro from administrative charges relating to the distribution of assistance to Typhoon Yolanda victims in 2014. In a six-page decision issued on April 12, 2021, the CA-Cebu Station’s Special Former Eighteenth Division denied the motion for reconsideration (MR) filed by former Daanbantayan councilor Renato Benatiro asking the appellate court to reverse its Oct. 30, 2019 decision. CA Cebu Associate Justice Marilyn Lagura-Yap said Benatiro’s MR was denied for lack of merit. She said Benatiro also failed to provide new evidence to support his motion.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) (MANILA BULLETIN) The DSWD Field Office V (Bicol) announced that it will hold a payout for 80 beneficiaries in Catanduanes from Jan. 14 to 15, 2021. “In Tabaco City, Albay, CFW distribution is scheduled on January 12, 2021 while the ESA distribution schedule in Tabaco City and other municipalities in Albay is yet to be finalized,” it said in a Facebook post.
